Challenges and Awards, Photography

5 days, 5 photos. Day 4 – It’s ghoulish, so consider yourself warned!

I’ve done this before, but I’ll do it again. Hi, I’m mad, in case we haven’t met!

The Rules: The challenge is – “Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”. Thanks to Mon for nominating me, I said I’d give it a try and here I am!

Well since very few, if any, have bothered to take up the challenges I’ve sent their way, I’ve decided to forgo nominations this time. My Vulcan side tells me I’m either too bad at matching challenges and people (and yes, I put in effort at that) or people don’t really care. I’m not going to say I’m throwing it open for anyone wishing to take the challenge up either.

Found this snakeskin a few springs ago in the hospital premises where I used to work. The whole thing was about seven feet long and shed skin shrinks so there was a 7 feet+ snake somewhere on the premises. We never found it.

A close up of the beautiful pattern on the skin. I had no idea but local superstition held finding shed snakeskin very auspicious. People from all over were asking me for a piece of it to take home for luck. I didn’t want to break up this perfect piece though. Luckily I found another snakeskin that same afternoon (no I wasn’t a veterinary doc working in a zoo, I swear) and since that wasn’t intact, I happily broke it off and gave it to all and sundry. I wonder what luck it brought them…. Sadly I lost my piece while shifting to my own place. Or maybe earlier. I found another few personal items missing from my almirah just now.

I just thought of a few snake oil salesman jokes that could come my way…..

About hbhatnagar

I need to fill this up with much better content than I had populated it with earlier. Why I write a blog maybe? I started blogging in 2009 or thereabouts. I was a newly turned atheist and wanted to converse with others of the same persuasion. We're not exactly a big population group in India! It didn't go very well and I sort of lost interest, posting a few things now and then. I got a lot more regular over the last few months and have been posting almost daily since February '15. There were many reasons why I gradually became more regular in posting, but one way or the other, here I am! So this blog has taken shape, being at different points in time my showcase, my comedy club, my art gallery, my book club, my therapist, my close friend, my innermost self....but always my little corner of the world. You are all welcome to visit and I hope you stay awhile! A few points about me because I don't want to lead anyone on(and trust me this does become an issue more often than I'd care to admit). I'm Indian, the brown-skinned variety; if race, ethnicity or skin colour is an issue, you don't have to get to know me any more than what you see on my blog. I'm 40, so if age is an issue, please be informed accordingly. I was a doctor, an ophthalmic surgeon for 10 years before I quit practice.

  1. I don’t remember being nominated for this one so I think I can find 5 photographs to use. I will give it a try

  4. Nice! But one suggestion. When you are giving warning, give simple worded warnings 😉 I had to search the meaning for ghoulish 😀 Poor me! 😉
