My second nomination for the “Love-Hate challenge”. Thank you Himali!

The rules are simple, name 10 things you love and 10 you hate, end by nominating someone if you want to (Ok so I made up that last one, but people are growing tired of these challenges and awards and no one seems as crazy about stuff like this as I am). It’s the 10 things I love that are the real challenge, hate comes easy.

The “L” word list

1. Coffee, hot and black

2. The sound of flowing water

3. The sound of a tinkling bell carried up a green valley

4. Spicy food

5. Macro photography

6. Getting my hands dirty

7. Annotated old books

8. Being alone

9. Sue

10. That moment when words just flow out of me

The “H” word list

1. That moment when words flow out of me

2. Loud people

3. Snobs (us snobs don’t like being at the receiving end of snobbery)

4. People who don’t realize how out of their depth they truly are

5. Books with anti-climactic endings

6. People who call up even when they have nothing to say and just keep asking, “Aur bata?” (so what’s new?)

7. Anyone who cuts me off on the road

8. Polite Convos

9. Anyone touching my hair (I’d prefer it if the barber could do his job without touching them, but that ain’t happening any time soon)

10. Pseudo-science

Most of the rest have been nominated already or couldn’t care less, So I’ll leave it at two nominations.

I need to fill this up with much better content than I had populated it with earlier. Why I write a blog maybe? I started blogging in 2009 or thereabouts. I was a newly turned atheist and wanted to converse with others of the same persuasion. We're not exactly a big population group in India! It didn't go very well and I sort of lost interest, posting a few things now and then. I got a lot more regular over the last few months and have been posting almost daily since February '15. There were many reasons why I gradually became more regular in posting, but one way or the other, here I am! So this blog has taken shape, being at different points in time my showcase, my comedy club, my art gallery, my book club, my therapist, my close friend, my innermost self....but always my little corner of the world. You are all welcome to visit and I hope you stay awhile! A few points about me because I don't want to lead anyone on(and trust me this does become an issue more often than I'd care to admit). I'm Indian, the brown-skinned variety; if race, ethnicity or skin colour is an issue, you don't have to get to know me any more than what you see on my blog. I'm 40, so if age is an issue, please be informed accordingly. I was a doctor, an ophthalmic surgeon for 10 years before I quit practice.

  2. You are the most honest person I have ever known! and more weird than me.

    Annotated old books- Wow!

    The way you ended the Love part and started the hate part- Oh, my God! You are not a human. Humans are not honest.

    Polite convos- Hahaha! But who says take care every time? And that “If you would like to” or “thank you for concern” D’oh!

    I am going to call and say ‘Aur batao’. I can get bored, you know?

  4. Polite convos make me angry. So do books with anti-climactic endings – ARGH! I love these lists. The sound of rushow water helps to calm me down.

I like to stroke people’s hair when I’m talking to them, but you’re in my laptop and therefore, in no danger of having to execute me. “Snobs (us snobs don’t like being at the receiving end of snobbery)” I laughed aloud reading this. So true. There’s only one sherrif in this town. “People who don’t realize how out of their depth they truly are” (Giggles). I actually find this entertaining, especially when it happens to other people who are not me. (Giggles)

    • Laptop strokers are an entirely different breed, so I’ll agree. I know, the pretentious ones wanting to “keep it real”. I used to find dud depth charges funny but sooner or later you get tired waiting for one to explode…
