About hbhatnagar
I need to fill this up with much better content than I had populated it with earlier. Why I write a blog maybe? I started blogging in 2009 or thereabouts. I was a newly turned atheist and wanted to converse with others of the same persuasion. We're not exactly a big population group in India! It didn't go very well and I sort of lost interest, posting a few things now and then.
I got a lot more regular over the last few months and have been posting almost daily since February '15. There were many reasons why I gradually became more regular in posting, but one way or the other, here I am! So this blog has taken shape, being at different points in time my showcase, my comedy club, my art gallery, my book club, my therapist, my close friend, my innermost self....but always my little corner of the world. You are all welcome to visit and I hope you stay awhile!
A few points about me because I don't want to lead anyone on(and trust me this does become an issue more often than I'd care to admit).
I'm Indian, the brown-skinned variety; if race, ethnicity or skin colour is an issue, you don't have to get to know me any more than what you see on my blog.
I'm 40, so if age is an issue, please be informed accordingly.
I was a doctor, an ophthalmic surgeon for 10 years before I quit practice.
No football here in UK….( sadly)

In the land of Gazza and Becky boy? In the country of Man U and Arsenal? Cricket languishes far behind football in the UK, or so I hear…

ahhh – a confession. That’s what poor grammar gets you.
I meant to say, No! Football, (is) here, sadly ( as opposed to India)
So another lesson in speedo typing which makes no sense and not checking before sending
Will you still speak to me when I tell you I have been to Arsenal matches, but only as a trade off for other things
( such as ballet and Noel Coward plays)

That reminded me of the old chestnut about a misplaced comma that changed the meaning of an international treaty! But I can understand the perils of touch-typing on smartphones; I’ve been victim to them myself, often enough. Would you still speak to me if I told you I know these teams more as culture tropes and I haven’t seen a single UEFA match, even on the telly?
Ballets, I don’t know, but I would trade a ticket in for a great recital/symphony maybe (though to be honest I wouldn’t have made the trade a decade ago….). π

Briefly, as always. The football is a faux love. My fella supports Arsenal. I wear the hat and attend matches for Brownie Points and other nice things. Its a trade off. Yes I had heard about the mis placed comma. Generally I consider football rather infra dig, but don’t say I said this.
However, re symphony… wanna know where I am going Tuesday….haha I shall tell you anyway

so I am a little couth on some occasions. What else, sorry to hijack the post. π¦

That sounds very, very interesting….Sigh! Now my Tuesday plans of watching Antman and chugging Scotch seem so empty…..:D
Do tell me how the concert went, though they don’t allow people recording stuff on their phones anymore.

Looks like a beautiful evening. π And just to clarify, what camera did you use?

Thanks Uday. I was carrying a Nikon D3300 with the kit lens (18-55). Many shots are on auto, though some were on Shutter or Aperture priority mode. π

It would appear you have been on quite a Road Trip. Rather like a Grand Tour….
but it would be super to see some pictures of your home country and fellowmen ( please?)

It was just a week long working trip, but I liked the place.. India and Indians have been posted before and will follow once I’m done with Basel. π
You’ll see enough India, Jackie, just you wait! π

oh I shall wait…. and hope. I obviously missed it. Always a fascinating subject
Basel? Good football team.. ha ha minus the smileys

That was what almost everyone in Basel told me. And one Australian guy I met was just so pleased to finally find someone to talk cricket with! π

you took the best from us…..education; politeness; a willing to learn; railway system; sport and kept it. We, sadly, threw it all away. Football is, apparently, the new cricket, so I am informed, but probably not reliably!

Football in India? It’s just in a few pockets around the country, cricket still rules, and has reigned since 1983. π
