Two Phrase Story #38

I would like to present a word challenge. Thanks to Elusive Trope for encouraging me to get off my lazy ass and actually try to get more readers involved in this weekly game. I would never have attempted it if you had not pushed me, ET!

The premise is simple. I provide one phrase every Thursday, an incomplete string of words, and it is up to you to complete it in your own, inimitable way. However you like, taking it in any direction you want.

If you like the concept and think other people might be interested in participating, please play along and post the complete challenge on your blog and leave a link in the comments section below. If you’d just like to take part yourself, please post the reply directly in the comments section. I will be posting all the replies together with links to the contributors in 10 days, i.e. the Saturday after next.

I need to fill this up with much better content than I had populated it with earlier. Why I write a blog maybe? I started blogging in 2009 or thereabouts. I was a newly turned atheist and wanted to converse with others of the same persuasion. We're not exactly a big population group in India! It didn't go very well and I sort of lost interest, posting a few things now and then. I got a lot more regular over the last few months and have been posting almost daily since February '15. There were many reasons why I gradually became more regular in posting, but one way or the other, here I am! So this blog has taken shape, being at different points in time my showcase, my comedy club, my art gallery, my book club, my therapist, my close friend, my innermost self....but always my little corner of the world. You are all welcome to visit and I hope you stay awhile! A few points about me because I don't want to lead anyone on(and trust me this does become an issue more often than I'd care to admit). I'm Indian, the brown-skinned variety; if race, ethnicity or skin colour is an issue, you don't have to get to know me any more than what you see on my blog. I'm 40, so if age is an issue, please be informed accordingly. I was a doctor, an ophthalmic surgeon for 10 years before I quit practice.

  3. I loved this challenge! I saw it on Jane Dougherty’s blog and gave it a go myself.

    I held the glass before my eyes and wrapped my fingers around it as she had done, awkward angles with my longer fingers bent to conform as I melded our fingerprints, briefly smudging reality, her hand in mine in her final moments.

    …and saw the door behind me open slowly, felt the air grow chill, but there was no one there.

  10. I held the glass before my eyes, mesmerized how my eyes now bug eyed reminding me of a frog I just the other day mercy killed having inadvertantly chopped his leg off with my garden spade.

  16. I held the glass before my eyes, turning my world into a sea of red.

    I love creative challenges like this, they’re so much fun to do and it never hurts to flex that creative muscle every now and then.
    I do creative challenges on my blog as well, it’s called SixThreeOne. I’m providing an image for my readers and I challenge them to write me three six-word stories inspired by the chosen image. You’re more than welcome to check it out. 🙂
    So, your challenge is quite different from what I’m used to, however I’m looking forward to more. I’ve licked blood now! 😀
